Dear Sacred Heart Families,

Welcome to the Sacred Heart Confirmation Program. We are excited to journey with your teen and family towards the Sacrament of Confirmation. This is truly a special time of spiritual formation for your teen, one that we hope will strengthen your entire family.

Confirmation is a consecutive 2-year formation which normally starts in the 9th grade. 

Pre-Confirmation Year

Pre-Confirmation is the 1st year of the 2-year Confirmation Formation.

Pre-Confirmation(1st year) Prerequisite:

• Be in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade 
• Be a registered Parishioner of Sacred Heart Church
• Be registered for Faith Formation classes
• Have celebrated the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, and Eucharist
• Complete Confirmation Registration Form and pay one-time Confirmation fee: REGISTER HERE
• Submit a newly issued Baptismal Certificate to nan@sacredhrt.com

Pre-Confirmation (1st year) Requirements

• Attend Parent/Teen Orientation meeting Sunday, September 10, 2023, 6-6:45 pm Family Life Center Gym
• Submit Saint Essay by Dec.3, 2023: How to Choose a Confirmation Saint; Saint Essay Guidelines
• Complete six Service Activites, complete this FORM for each, and submit them to sarah@sacredhrt.com
• Attend a Catholic Retreat (NET, AYC or Steubenville)
• Weekly Mass and Holy Days of Obligation attendance
• Regular Sacramental Life 
• Regular Faith Formation attendance (no more than two absences per semester)
• Catholic school students are not required to attend Faith Formation classes but are encouraged to attend inorder to develop peer relationships. 

Confirmation Year

Confirmation Year is the 2nd year of the 2-year Confirmation Formation. During this year your teen will be refered as a  Confirmation candidate.

Confirmation Year(2nd year) Prerequisite:

• Be in 10th, 11th or 12th grade
• Be a registered Parishioner of Sacred Heart Church
• Be registered for Faith Formation classes
• Have celebrated the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, and Eucharist
• Have regularly attended Faith Formation classes the previous year with no more than two absences per semester.
• Attend Parent/Teen Orienttion Meeting Sunday, September 10, 2023, 7-8 pm, Family Life Center Gym
• Submit Candidate Solemn Promise Form 
• Submit Candidate/Parent Inscription Promise 

If new to Sacred Heart Church or the Confirmation Program including Catholic School Students:

• Complete Confirmation Registration Form and pay one-time Confirmation Fee REGISTER HERE 
• Submit a newly issued Baptismal Certificate to sarah@sacredhrt.com

Confirmation Year (2nd year) Requirements

• Attend all Confirmation classes 
• Attend Faith Formation classes regularly (no more than two absences per semester) 
• Entrance Interview with Youth Ministry on October 1, 2023.
• Complete and submit Candidate/Parent Inscription Promise Form
• Complete Confirmation Sponsor Form and submit to sarah@sacredhrt.com by October 1, 2023
• Attend Candidate/Sponsor Day of Prayer
• Complete six Service Activites, complete this FORM for each, and submit them to sarah@sacredhrt.com
• Attend a Confirmation Retreat, current retreat schedule TBD
• Exit Interview with Fr. Paul
• Regular Sacramental Life 
• Weekly Mass and Holy Days Obligation attendance

Parents, as you continue ministering to your family, your parish and the community, we ask you to be especially faithful in these areas:

• Attend Sunday Liturgy and Holy Days of Obligation.

• Support a parish ministry with the gift of your time or talent.

• Be true to the Biblical call to tithe.

In addition to worshiping at Sacred Heart your family has the opportunity to give your time, talent, and treasure to the many ministries this faith community has to offer. Opportunities to participate are not restricted to High School Faith Formation, Jr. High Faith Formation, or Confirmation, but include all parish ministries such as Adult Faith Formation, RCIA, and Faith Formation grades Pre-K-5th, to name but a few.  It is your example that will have the greatest impact on the faith formation of your child.

We could not have a Faith Formation Program without you. We will train, support and provide weekly resources for your class throughout the Faith Formation year.  We will work as a team to lead our teens to know, love and serve God.
